Select a Location

Pick a spot in your home for the furnace. It should be in an open area, as the furnace will emit light and particles when in use. Place the furnace on natural blocks like stone, dirt or wood - it won't work on player-placed walls or furniture.

Build the Furnace Frame

Place the 20 stone blocks in a square to make the frame of the furnace. The inside of the square should be empty.

Add the Fuel Chamber

Place the 4 wood boards along the bottom of the square to make the fuel chamber that will hold your wood, coal or other fuel.

Install the Lighting

Put a torch in each of the top corners of the square. The torches will provide the initial heat to get the furnace going before it can sustain itself.

Light it Up!

Use your flint and steel or any fire source to ignite one of the torches. The furnace will start burning on its own! Add wood, coal or other fuel to the fuel chamber to keep it going.
