How Do You Make a Sawmill?
First, you'll need some iron or lead ores which you'll have to smelt into iron or lead bars. You'll need at least two bars to make a chain , one of the components for the sawmill.
Next, chop down 10 wood blocks. Any type of wood will do, so grab whichever trees are most common in your biome. With a pickaxe or axe, mine the wood blocks.
Now you'll need a furnace, workbench, and anvil. If you don't have these crafting stations yet, make them with stone, wood, and iron or lead bars respectively.
Once you have all the materials, here's the recipe to craft your sawmill:
- 1 Chain (made from 2 iron/lead bars at an anvil)
- 10 Wood Blocks
- 2 Iron or Lead Bars
Place the materials on your workbench and voila! You now have a sawmill which can be used to craft wood walls, furniture, and other building materials.
Furnace
Build yourself a furnace to smelt the iron and lead ore into bars. Place the furnace in your home and fill it with the ore and fuel like wood or coal to produce the bars.
Anvil
With an anvil, you can craft the iron and lead bars into chains - a key component for your sawmill.
Once built, select ‘Crafting’ -> ‘Tools and Weapons’ -> ‘Chains’ to make chains from the bars. You’ll want to craft at least 2-3 chains to have spares.
Where to Get Sawmill Materials
To build a Sawmill in Terraria, you’ll need to gather some essential materials. The good news is, everything you need can be found in your world! Let’s go over where you can source the components.
Iron and Lead Ore
Venture underground into caves and tunnels to find deposits of iron and lead ore scattered on the ground or embedded in the walls. Mine the ore with your pickaxe. You’ll want to collect at least 10-15 of each ore to have enough for crafting the necessary bars.
Wood
Every build in Terraria needs wood! Fell trees in the forest with your axe to obtain wood blocks and planks. For a sawmill, you’ll want 200-300 wood in total. Wood is also needed for the furnace, anvil and other components.
Using Your New Terraria Sawmill
Congratulations, you now have your very own Sawmill in Terraria! This handy station opens up a whole new world of crafting possibilities. You’ll be chopping logs and building furniture in no time.
Let’s get slicing!
Place some logs in your inventory and stand near your Sawmill. Open the crafting menu, select the Sawmill, and you’ll see all the wood recipes light up. Pick what you want to make, like planks, beams, or slabs, and get crafting. Each log will make several pieces of wood. Before you know it, you’ll have stacks and stacks of all types of wood ready for building.
Furnish your place
Now that you have wood for days, start crafting some furniture! Things like chairs, tables, dressers, and grandfather clocks are all options. Arrange the furniture however you like in your home. Maybe put a dresser in your bedroom, a table and chairs in your kitchen, or a grandfather clock in your entryway. Get creative!
